This morning’s scenario is a woman with 2 small children who works at a school. So to get an MOT done on her car would involve loading the kids in the car early, take the car to the garage & either getting a lift to school & repeating the sequence in reverse later that day.
My solution is leave the keys in a safe place, while they have arranged an alternative way direct to school. I collect the car, check it over & take for an MOT test. Hopefully it passes the test. I return the car back to the customer.
For my time taken, this could be a total of 2.5 hours, but this is not reflected in my labour rate, as my normal charge would be £36 + the price of the MOT. So less hassle for the customer while they carry on their day
